Regional Centre for Culture 2018

The Regional Centre for Culture 2018 took place on the country of the Dja Dja Wurrung and Taungurung peoples in the City of Greater Bendigo and the Shires of Central Goldfields, Hepburn and Mount Alexander.

The program took place across the region - not in one building, town or paddock. Over 1000 events including festivals, exhibitions, performances and farmers markets were part of the RCC 2018 and over 250,000 participants got involved as audiences and artists.

Meander is how many visitors took part via recommended itineraries  in, through and around the area. Visitors and locals found surprise performances in the best of famers markets, tiny towns hosting giant visual arts installations, urban centres premiering new works from among Victoria’s finest. Did we mention massed pipe and brass bands in the bush? Or circuses at swimming pools?

What’s Next? The legacy of the RCC 2018 will be felt for years to come as individuals and communities continue to get out and about, make art, make fun and connect with each other through cultural activities.
